[RSS Club] Changes to the RSS and Atom feeds

Terence Eden’s Blog ·

This content is exclusive to RSS and Atom subscribers. It is not on the web. Shhhhh!

A few weeks ago I accidentally broke some of your feed readers. I was using … blocks in the feed. That allows me to put in raw HTML without the need for escaping. Unfortunately, some feed readers unescaped text which should have remained escaped. Confusing, innit?

Anyway, if you've a mind to, I'd be grateful if you let me know if this post does anything "weird" with your reader0.

This text should be bold but this text should not.

This text should be escaped <marquee> and should not cause your reader to scroll.

This is an image of a mushroom cloud:

A glowing red mushroom cloud caused by an atomic bomb.

This is the escaped version

This should just be an ampersand:

&

And this should be ampersand, amp, and semicolon:

&

Here's a video embed that I like:

I'm sure there's all sorts of other odd stuff I could add, but this'll be a good start.

With thanks to Suren Enfiajyan's article for the guidance.
