Consumption Without Reflection is a Waste of Time

The Next Step ·

As I was recently reflecting on how much time I spend taking in information (audiobooks, podcasts, even just good old fashioned real-life books), it’s started to become clear to me I’m consuming at a faster rate than I can process. Have you ever found yourself in the same boat? Or, perhaps you’ve noticed a tendency to fill every waking moment with some sort of sound, whether it’s a phone call to a friend or listening to music while you work or the TV in the background as soon as you get home. Have you ever wondered if some deliberate time in silence would bring a greater sense of calm to your internal world? This week on The Next Step, I’m reflecting on these themes with some practical steps I’m working on implementing in my own life. I’d love to hear your own ideas, too!

One Thing Differently:

What’s one part of your weekly or daily routine you can practice protecting silence instead of letting consumption take over?
